Moved by his self-sacrificing and compassionate representation which has transformed lives and restored hopes, Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has described as “very intimidating” Senator Theodore Orji’s score card at the National Assembly.
60 undergraduates from Abia Central Senatorial District in various tertiary institutions benefited from the second phase of the annual scholarship programme which was introduced last year by Sen. Orji bringing the number of beneficiaries so far to 120.
“You have continued to show your passion for the Abia youths with heartwarming programmes which include care for the needy, empowerment for youths, artisans/farmers as well as the scholarship programme for our indigent undergraduates,” a delighted Ikpeazu said.
“Your score card so far at the National Assembly is very intimidating,” he added.
Sen. Orji who spoke earlier said this gesture was borne out of his conviction that education remained the best empowerment for the youths in his constituency considering its pivot role in the development of any society.
“The scheme was not to show off but to assist the state government in advancing the education cause of Abia youths especially in view of the impressive performance of the state which has consistently maintained the second position in WAEC exams for years now,” Sen. Orji said.
He however charged the beneficiaries to reciprocate and justify the gesture by excelling in their academics.
