Abians have been called upon to join hands with the Governor to
build the 'New Abia' as encapsulated in the new Abia Anthem and
The Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu made the call while hosting
Abians at Banquet Hall, Government House, Umuahia.
The Governor said that the State Anthem will be taught in the
schools to inculcate the new Abia spirit in the people as well as
make people see Abia from his prism and he directed the Head
of Service of the State to circulate a memo to Ministries for
mandatory Monday morning prayers in government offices.
Dr.Ikpeazu decried the recent distractions on him saying that the
distractions are not directly on him but on Abia residents, whose
road reconstructions have been delayed.
He noted that the opportunity for him to serve Abians marks
fulfillment of the Abia chatter of equity which is one of the pillars
of Abia foundation.
Furthermore, he said everybody in Abia will be given opportunity
to make contribution to the governance of the State and enjoined
all to continue to pray for the State.
In their speeches on behalf of Abia Central, South and North,
Chief Uzodinma Okpara, Chief Don Ubani and Prof. S.O Igwe
urged Abians to support the Governor to develop the State.
They extolled the Governor for his giant strides so far and
expressed hope that the Governor will drive Abia to an enviable
economic development, describing him as the best qualified to
lead Abia as his election is in tune with the Abia chatter of equity.
